RRB NTPC Selection Process
The RRB NTPC recruitment process consists of the following stages:
- 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I)
- 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-II)
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) (for specific posts)
- Typing Skill Test (TST)
- Document Verification (DV)
1st Stage CBT Syllabus (Common for All Posts)
The 1st Stage CBT is a screening test with a total duration of 120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied by a scribe. It includes the following sections:
a. Mathematics
- Number System, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF
- Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration
- Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest
- Profit and Loss, Elementary Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry
- Elementary Statistics
b. General Intelligence and Reasoning
- Analogies, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical Operations
- Relationships, Analytical Reasoning, Syllogisms, Jumbling
- Venn Diagrams, Puzzle Solving, Data Sufficiency
- Statement Conclusion, Decision Making, Interpretation of Graphs
c. General Awareness
- Current Events (National & International), Games & Sports, Indian Culture
- History of India, Geography of India and the World, Indian Polity
- General Science, Environmental Issues, Famous Personalities
- Indian Economy, Government Programs, Space & Nuclear Programs
Note: Negative marking is applicable, and 1/3rd of a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
2nd Stage CBT Syllabus
Candidates shortlisted for the 2nd Stage CBT will be 15 times the total community-wise vacancies. The syllabus is similar to the 1st Stage CBT, with more detailed questions.
a. Mathematics
- Focus on topics like Decimals, Fractions, Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics
b. General Intelligence and Reasoning
- Emphasis on Syllogism, Analogies, and Mathematical Operations
c. General Awareness
- Advanced questions on Indian Polity, Economy, Geography, and Science
CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test)
The CBAT is applicable for candidates who have opted for the Station Master post. To qualify, candidates need to score a minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery. This minimum score is uniform across categories.
Typing Skill Test (TST)
Applicable for posts such as Senior Clerk cum Typist and Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, the TST is qualifying in nature. Candidates must type:
- 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi. PwBD candidates who meet certain criteria are exempt from this test.
Document Verification (DV)
Candidates who clear all the previous stages are called for document verification based on merit. Final appointments depend on medical fitness and document verification by the Railway Administration.
